Turkish military has launched attacks on the U.S.-led Kurdish SDF positions in Syria and Peshmerga fighters in Iraq.

According to the source, the Turkish army hit 39 positions of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Syria and Iraq.

The official spokesman of the Syrian Kurdish YPG said that at least 20 their fighters were killed and 18 injured by Turkish airstrikes on Karajukh Mount in the province of Hasakah. Also Turkish warplanes carried out several air raids targeting a military camp for Peshmerga soldiers Yezidi region of Sinjar (Shingal) in Northern Iraq, killing 5 fighters.

Erdogan’s decision to shell the Kurdish positions was condemned by the international community.

“These ‎airstrikes were not approved by the Counter-ISIS Coalition and led to the unfortunate loss of life of our partner forces in the fight against ISIS,” Maj. Adrian Rankine-Galloway said.

Such moves trigger most serious concern in Moscow. “In conditions when completion of a war against terrorism in Iraq and Syria is still a long way off, such actions definitely discourage consolidation of anti-terrorist efforts, escalating the already tense situation,” the Russian foreign ministry said.

Apparently, Erdogan is ready to act in his own interest against Turkey’s NATO counterparts. And furthermore, his actions hindered an offensive on ISIS terrorists in Raqqa. The city of Raqqa is the last ISIS bastion in Syria.

Probably, Erdogan didn’t mean to share the victory over this city. And now he is ready to obstruct the US-led international coalition revealing that the U.S. can’t do anything without Turkey.
