The heavy weapons provided to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) by Washington in Syria have been stationed near the Turkish border and reportedly ready to target the Turkish military.
According to the source, at least 9 containers of heavy weapons and ammunition are now being deployed on the Turkish border.
The YPG has recently threatened to hit Turkey if Ankara decided to launch an operation on the YPG-held Afrin and Tal Rifat towns in Aleppo province. The U.S.-backed Raqqa Civilian Council, which is affiliated with the YPG group, has recently vowed to defend Afrin.
Earlier in 2017, the Donald Trump administration approved to supply tons of heavy weapons and ammunition to the YPG. Up to that time, the U.S. air force had already airdropped 50 tons of arms and ammunition to the group in October 2015.
